I keep bringing milk
to that stray piebald cat who
bolts away each time

I was going to ask you about the kitten today. Or is this the cat that hangs out back there?

I was hoping this would be taken in a more emblematic sense. But -- there are several cats who come by. There's that big tawny roundheaded one, and lately a black-and-white kitten. There might be others of the feral crew, since I seem to have one of the few backyards uncursed by the presence of dogs.

This is another short story, although not quite as evocative as the Mexican songs.
