does anyone know?

I have a question about the new "Live from Wigmore" release of Lorraine Hunt Lieberson's 30 November 1998 recital: is this disc just a re-release of the earlier BBC Music release, or is there some significant difference that makes it worthwhile upgrading? I know Alex Ross told us all to buy it, and normally I would do whatever Mr. Ross told me to do, but he didn't say anything about those who already had the earlier issue -- does anyone have any knowledge or opinions?

comparing the two on amazon, it looks like the re-release has one added track:

10. Lorraine Hunt Lieberson's Spoken Introduction To: Triraksha's Aria

everything else is the same. perhaps there were some changes in the remastering?

I think the programme notes for the re-release are quite a bit longer.

Merci Monsieur and muchas gracias Mopsy. It sounds as if it's basically the same release with a slight addition. On the other hand, it's on sale at Amazon and considering my feelings for Ms. Hunt Lieberson perhaps I will go ahead and get it anyway. If I do I will report back on possible remastering. None of the reviews I've seen has done any comparisons with the earlier release, or even acknowledged that there was one, which seems sort of odd.

That is odd, all the UK broadsheets did a review and mentioned it was a re-release. Same with "Gramophone" and "BBC Music Magazine" reviews- nothing there about remastering either.

Hi Mopsy,
I saw the Gramophone review -- that was the one I was mostly thinking of. Do you like BBC Music Magazine? I just received a subscription offer and was wondering if it was worth the money, though another magazine is the last thing I need piling up in the basement. Also, is your blog active? I was going to add you to the blogroll, but it looks as maybe it's in abeyance. . .

hello,
The articles in BBC Music are not as in depth as Gramophone- it is very good for items on BBC programmes. However, unless you listen to the radio over the internet that will not be much good for you.
I would love to go on your blogroll- my posting has been a bit sporadic with writing up but will be back on soon.
