Haiku 241

Leaves falling reveal
The branch-held labored twig-mound,
Its hatchlings long gone

Lovely. Which tree? And why are leaves falling in summer? They must hate heat, too.

Leaves always start falling in August. And September is when I really have to make sure I sweep up once a week. Before then I can usually skip a week without its being too visible.

This is the lemon tree, which has leaves year-round but does tend to lose them -- July and August are always sort of a dormant period, insofar as that tree has one. You may not remember, but I actually showed you this particular nest.

The heat has been making me think of you and your general well-being.
