A propos of nothing, but regarding the famous flubbed oath of office on Inauguration Day: Is anyone really surprised that a Bush appointee to the Supreme Court mangled the language of the Constitution?

I think mangling the Constitution is a job requirement for the Supreme Court Republican appointees of the last 30 years.
Well, as I've told you before, my theory is that our great reverence for the Supreme Court is an historical anomaly based on having grown up in the immediate wake of the Warren Court.
I think I was focused in on the idea that he would take the oath again and why he might feel the need to do that. Also, I was interested in what that might say about his personality.

PS I had a nice coffee hour or two with MVD yesterday.
Well, I think they just wanted to be extra careful and get it out of the way -- this way the right-wing nutjobs can go back to talking about how Obama is really a Muslim who wasn't born in this country and therefore isn't eligible for the Presidency. Bush wasn't even legally elected the first time, but no one mentions that.
