Haiku 2010/231

(for JM, a grammar school classmate whose recent death I just heard about)

perhaps later years
offered you kindness we didn't
in those vanished days

Very moving.

It's strange when our own age becomes so mortal.

The other day I was discussing the effects of "casual day" with V and told her that not only did I no longer have any suits, I didn't even have a jacket. She told me I should get one because you never know when you'll need one for a funeral. I laughed at the example -- a few years ago it might have been a wedding, or a baptism.
