Thank you! This is one of my favorites, and I wondered if anyone else liked it.
I was killing time at a bookstore (there are still a few left!) on my way to a concert Monday night, and I was leafing through the Selected Poems of Jorge Luis Borges, and I came across "To a Minor Poet of the Greek Anthology" and that's where this comes from.
I tried to find an on-line version to link to and couldn't, but I think it's worth seeking out.
Ah, thanks for the link. I bought that three-volume Borges set that was released several years ago, and of course it's been sitting waiting ever since, but I too have read more of his fiction than his poetry, and not enough of either.

Beautiful. It reminds of an earlier one you wrote, one that brought Brautigan to mind in the best way.

I found it, and I can see how it would inspire.

This poem actually changes how I think about Borges. I've read his fiction before, but not his poetry. Thank you!
